Six Degrees of the 'Elk.
Today 'Elk's, we're going to play the "Six Degrees of Separation" game. For those of you that are not familiar with this game, let me explain the rules. The theory is based on the idea that everyone in the world can be linked to anyone else in the world in just six steps (sometimes even less).
Are you ready? Let's go!!.
Photo 1. This young lady, a native of Huntington Beach, CA. is Kim Falcon. Kim, an accomplished model is the spokeswomen for Electric Chair clothing and the pinup girl for the Fred Gretsch guitar company. Throughout her illustrious career she has earned her pay by not being groundbreaking, but by her retro style. She cites her main influence, "Betty Page" as her inspiration. Her connection through Gretsch gave way to the introduction to Neil Zlozower.
Photo 2. This is Neil Zlozower. He, along with Ross Haflin are among the elite of Rock-n-Roll photographers. Through the lens of Mr.Zlozower, millions of teens have caught a glimpse of their teenage idols. Remember going down to the 7-11 as a kid and buying Cream or Guitar Player magazine? Well, this is the guy who was responsible for bringing us to the front lines of Rock-n-Roll. His most memorable shot is the one of the late Randy Rhodes hugging his classical guitar on the cover of the May 1982 issue of Guitar Player magazine. I might also add that he is the gentleman who took that famous shot of a young Van Halen on the side of the expressway, planting an American flag in the ground. Neil is the photographer to the who's who of the Rock world. From AC-DC to Van Halen, this is the man.
Photo 3A. This man needs no introduction. He is the rhythm guitarist and lead singer for Metallica, Mr. James Hetfield.
Why is he next you say? Well, he is not only a lens favorite of Neil Zlozower, but he's also a member of the 'Elk Nation. (go figure...)
Photo 3B. Photographic evidence of James' 'Elkness. I thought you would take my word for it but if not, here you go....
This is Mr. Jim Singleton of Jim's Guitars. It was Jim who made the phone call to Zakk (Metallica's guitar tech extraordinaire) on our behalf. This call provided us with the opportunity to make James a member of our herd and as you can see, he's always on the phone.
Photo 5. In a Blues guitar riff, the boys from the old school would call this the turn around, for here in this picture ,you see none other than Kim Falcon with our very own honorary 'Elk Nation member, Keith Rowley at the Grestch booth at this year's Namm show in sunny California. I know this is the "Six Degrees of Separation" game, but 'Elk's, I couldn't help but do it in five. This game is a lot of fun and it makes you realize what a small world we really do live in.
