Nashville, 2008 - 1937 Shaded Top Martin D-28

Nashville, 2008 - 1937 Shaded Top Martin D-28

This guitar got the 'Elk "most interesting guitar of the show" award and it currently resides with Mr. Gary Burnett, of B-3 Vintage. The serial number dates it to 1937 and it has the early feature of forward X bracing. The interesting thing about this D-28 is it's shaded top and Gary told us he knows of only one other example existing here in the States. I guess that would put it in the "just a tiny bit rare" category. It's a gorgeous piece of Americana and when he strummed it, the term "magical" immediately came to mind. We suspect Gary's smiling because back in the day, he probably traded two goats and a gallon of buttermilk for the guitar; It's a good thing we have one exactly like it here in the office- if only I could just get that Lotus logo off the headstock....
