These Flathead Telecasters were most noticeably played by Jim Root of the band Slipknot and eventually became the genesis of what would become the Jim Root Signature guitar. We have seen a couple of the original Flatheads for sale, but never one like this, so we made the call to Fender's Custom Shop. After a few minutes of research, we were informed that this is a completely one- off guitar and the only Armored Flathead Telecaster ever produced by Fender. Now that's the kind of guitar we like to find and there were smiles abound that day here in the 'Elkcave. This beast has an EMG 81 in the neck position and an EMG 60 in the bridge. New bounds for the term "heavy"! This guitar is a must- have for any serious Custom Shop collector and what we feel is a perfect candidate for a Fender calendar. Rare, clean, original and impossible to find; That's what we specialize in here at GrinningElk and when you want a guitar that nobody else will have, just call us and we'll make it happen! |
