A little known fact; Out of the three hundred 40th Anniversary Teles made, Ray and I have sold three to Keith Urban himself. Yep, that's right people, not dropping names here (who am I bullshittin'?) I am, but I digress.
These guitars, as you know are early examples of the now famous Fender Custom Shop. This one, as you can see was built by Micheal Stevens and to Fender collectors, Mr. Stevens is among the very best luthiers Fender had in their stable.
A limited production run of 300 were made by the Fender Custom Shop. These 40th Anniversary Telecasters had gold hardware, Texas Special pickups, a 4-way pickup selector switch and a figured maple neck with abalone dots. As you can see in the photos, this rare Tele is in exceptional original condition.
100 each in tinted natural, translucent red and honey violin transparent. Keith Urban collects these, Clapton had one built especially for him after the original run sold out and Merle Haggard based his Tuff Dawg signature Tele on this model. In short folks, this 7 lb, 14 oz Tele is a gorgeous example of Fender craftsmanship at it's finest. It comes complete with the original COA, strap locks, strap, tags and case.
