Welcome to grinning elk!
No corporate mission statement here. After 30-plus years, I know what catches my eye — clean, original, interesting and sometimes just plain hard to find. I describe them honestly, set them up right, and send them out the way I’d want one to arrive at my door.
If you need me, send a flare, smoke signals, or an email—and, like the Jackson 5 said, “I’ll Be There.”

Browse the link above to see our current selection of hand-picked guitars—exceptional instruments chosen for their quality, condition, and character.

For years, Grinning Elk has had a reputation for finding some of the finest vintage amps around. Clean, original, and chosen with the same care as our guitars. Take a look and find out for yourself.

One of only 50 ever made — the Ernie Ball Music Man John Petrucci Signature JP-7 Red Nebula. A rare seven-string built for one of the most influential guitarists of our time, with a finish every bit as striking as the guitar itself.

From cool pedals and vintage parts to a little Grinning Elk swag, you never know what might turn up here. Take a look around—you just might find that missing piece you’ve been hunting for.

A first-year 1993 Guild Brian May BM-01, built to capture Brian’s legendary Red Special. Rare, unmistakable, and one of the coolest artist models Guild ever produced.

Somewhere along the way, buying guitars turned into selling guitars, which turned into Grinning Elk Music Company. That was over 30 years ago, so apparently the intervention isn’t coming.
